The compromised seal around this skylight resulted in an accumulation of moisture within the wall cavity. The moisture led to a mold growth nurtured by the cardboard backing of the drywall. We resealed the exterior frame of the skylight on the roof and then scraped off the visible interior damage. We applied an antifungal agent to inhibit future growth as a precaution and then painted the affected area with an encapsulating paint product. The wall was now ready for a finish coat.
